Not only is this soup gluten-free, but it’s also incredibly easy to make, using simple ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen. It’s a great way to enjoy a nourishing, homemade meal that’s packed with flavor, vitamins, and antioxidants.

Why You’ll Love This Gluten-Free Classic Tomato Soup

  • Comforting & Flavorful: This soup has the perfect balance of sweetness from ripe tomatoes and savory flavors from herbs, making it the ultimate comfort food.
  • Naturally Gluten-Free: With fresh ingredients like tomatoes, herbs, and a creamy base, this soup is naturally gluten-free and safe for those with gluten sensitivities or celiac disease.
  • Packed with Nutrients: Tomatoes are full of vitamins and antioxidants like Vitamin C and lycopene, which support overall health.
  • Easy to Make: It’s a one-pot recipe that’s ready in under 30 minutes, perfect for busy days or meal prep.
  • Customizable: You can adjust the creaminess, add extra vegetables, or even throw in some spices to tailor it to your tastes.

Ingredients:

IngredientsAmount
Fresh tomatoes (chopped)4 large
Olive oil2 tbsp
Yellow onion (chopped)1 medium
Garlic cloves (minced)3 cloves
Vegetable broth (gluten-free)4 cups
Heavy cream (or coconut cream)1/2 cup
SaltTo taste
Black pepperTo taste
Dried oregano1 tsp
Dried basil1 tsp
Sugar1 tsp (optional, to balance acidity)

Instructions:

  • Prepare the Ingredients: Start by chopping the tomatoes and onion. Mince the garlic cloves and measure out the vegetable broth, heavy cream, and spices.

  • Sauté the Aromatics: Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the onion becomes soft and translucent. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

  • Cook the Tomatoes: Add the chopped tomatoes to the pot and cook them down for about 5-7 minutes, allowing them to soften and release their juices. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.

  • Add the Broth and Spices: Pour in the vegetable broth, and add the dried oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together and bring the mixture to a boil. Once it’s boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

  • Blend the Soup: Using an immersion blender, blend the soup until it’s smooth and creamy. If you don’t have an immersion blender, carefully transfer the soup in batches to a regular blender and blend until smooth. Be cautious with the hot liquid.

  • Add the Cream: Once the soup is blended, return it to the pot (if using a regular blender). Stir in the heavy cream (or coconut cream for a dairy-free version), and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to combine the flavors.

  • Serve and Enjoy: Ladle the hot soup into bowls, and optionally garnish with fresh basil or a drizzle of cream. Serve immediately and enjoy with gluten-free bread or a grilled cheese sandwich!
